Dinah, 27, lives with her brother and five children – including seven-month-old twins Meldah and Ekuom – in Turkana, northern Kenya. Dinah’s son, Kenya, is eight years old and has a special bond with the twins. Turkana is facing drought and locust invasions, which have devastated pastures for livestock. Dinah says the drought is taking everything – even people – and is leaving everyone to starve. Dinah’s twins, Meldah and Ekuom, have severe acute malnutrition, and she says her heart cries silently when she sees the impact of hunger on her children. Health workers at an Emergency Health Unit outreach clinic enrolled Dinah’s twins Meldah and Ekuom in the nutrition programme and provided them with Ready-to-Eat Therapeutic Food to treat their severe acute malnutrition.
